Warning: If you are easily overwhelmed, the following chart may make you dizzy. Outer planets moving to conjunct natal planets by Solar Arc is a *big deal*. Quit my day job (My Sun’s in the 6th), parked my butt in a shared space with another artist and opened for business as an Astrologer. Moving that Uranus ahead a degree per year (i.e., when I was 1 year old, Uranus moved to 15 Leo, when I was 6 years old Uranus moves to 20 Leo)… until finally that Uranus Solar Arc’d on my Natal Sun and I had a major “coming out” as an Astrologer. For instance, I was born with Uranus at 14 Leo, Sun at 23 Virgo. planet makes a conjunction to a natal planet. The only time I have ever seen Solar Arcs do a major trigger is when the S.A. Move *every single planet* ahead one degree per year. Example: I have Sun at 23 Virgo, Saturn at 19 Sadge Saturn inched up by secondary progression to perfect the square to my Sun when I was in my mid-50s and BOY OH BOY, that was a really hard year or 2, because Saturn perfected one of the “promises” of my natal chart, i.e., the Sun/Saturn square. Jupiter can move up to a whole sign away, so there’s some punch there, but Saturn, Neptune and Pluto hardly move much at all… Saturn at best a few degrees, which, meh, won’t mean much unless it happens to *perfect* an aspect that is close when you’re born. Outer planets… their orbits are tooooooo slooow to see much secondary progression. You must ADD IN the secondary progressions to see the trigger! Sometimes, after an event happens, you don’t see the “cause” of the event just by looking at the natal chart and transits. Whatever aspects you have natally (basically called the “promise” of the chart), gets lit up by both transits to the natal as well as the progressions. This has a great deal of meaning! The secondary progressions are the soul’s journey through life, I like to say. However, as the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars are traipsing around your chart, they make aspects to your natal chart, and are also aspected by the current transits. But throw in the retrogrades and … well, now you’re overwhelmed. At best, Mercury might get through 4 signs, Venus 3 and Mars 2-3 signs. But like the Sun, you are never going to live to see those 3 planets revolve all the way around your chart. Since these planets occasionally (or often) go retrograde, you really need to be Einstein, or have a good computer program, to know where they have progressed to at any given time in your life. So then you have Mercury, Venus and Mars. You get a *progressed* lunar return once every 28-29 years. The progressed Moon is a very good indicator of when a transit is going to trigger an event. The Moon takes *roughly* 29 years to circle your chart, but speeds through some signs by progression faster than others. That’s a degree per year, so if you lived 360 years you’d have a *progressed* Solar return. The Sun’s movement is constant, so every single year, your progressed Sun moves ONE DEGREE. Secondary progressions are the inner planets’ movement around your chart as you age, with the movement based on each planet’s orbit at the time you are born. I’ve pulled up his secondary and solar arcs for the date of his death, along with the transits of that day. The chart I’ve included is of John Belushi, since I mentioned him in a recent article. This is what I look at, to get an overall picture of what kind of energy is a) your hardwiring from birth and b) how that’s being activated. When I am doing a consult, I use a quadi-wheel, which has the natal chart on the inside, secondary progressions next, the solar arcs after that and then the current transits on the outside wheel.

Other common uses for concrete forms include pouring a simple concrete slab to act as the foundation for a shed or workshop, securing the posts of a fence or a gate in the ground with a concrete base, or making simple paving stones for the yard with a shallow formwork mold. Insulating concrete forms are essentially concrete walls that are poured between two layers of insulating material to create a strong and insulated foundation. Goals can range from making a few simple steps to lead up to the porch to pouring a complex foundation to make insulating concrete forms for the home. There are many different construction projects that utilize concrete and most of them require some type of formwork to ensure that the concrete sets according to plan. The cement paste coats the surface of the fine and coarse aggregates when mixed thoroughly and binds them. Sometimes rocks are used instead of aggregates. So, concrete can be called as a mixture of paste, sand and aggregates. Mixture of Portland cement and water is called as paste. While pouring concrete during very hot or. Formwork helps to ensure that the concrete sets properly, so it’s necessary for a range of projects including building a fence, installing a gate, pouring a foundation, and constructing a home. Components of concrete are cement, sand, aggregates and water. The lightweight forms interlock quickly like large LEGO blocks, saving time and money during the construction process. However, users should keep in mind that while formwork typically costs about $1.10 per square foot of the concrete area, a rounded or contoured framework is generally more expensive. By reducing the number of cuts that need to be made in the concrete forms, there is less timber or plywood needed in total. Plan out the project carefully so that pieces of the formwork can be reused for multiple sections and it’s also a good idea to limit the number of slender sections to avoid wasting small pieces of timber or plywood. So, while it’s a bad idea to go without concrete forms, there are ways that can help save on the cost of these materials. Unfortunately, without the use of formwork, it’s all too easy for construction projects to go awry, leaving the concrete slab for the new shed or workshop uneven and difficult to use as support. Many people either don’t know about concrete forms or they don’t want to have to pay for timber or plywood to set up formwork because the extra cost is too high. Manual tapping heads, air spindles, and low horsepower machines are examples of equipment unsuited for form tapping. 1.Wet concrete on skin can cause everything from mild redness to third-degree, permanently disfiguring chemical burns. Concrete forms are necessary to create high-quality concrete, but with careful planning, measuring, and cutting, users can save on the overall cost of formwork. Liquid IV has a high electrolyte content from its combination of sodium, sugar, and potassium that quickly dissolves into any liquid. So, we know what’s not in them, but what’s underneath the label? The company boasts that their products are free of GMOs, gluten, dairy, and soy. With Pedialyte’s ingredients covered, let’s inspect what an average serving of Liquid IV holds. The brand sweetens its products with sucralose instead. Pedialyte also contains ample amounts of zinc to keep your immune system in tip-top shape.įurthermore, Pedialyte’s lower sugar content drops its caloric value, meaning it’s useful for athletes looking to lose weight if they compete in weight-class-based sports. These elevated electrolyte levels can help Pedialyte users absorb more nutrients and necessary nutrients. An average serving of Pedialyte delivers 45 mEq/L of sodium along with less than half the sugar of other sports drinks. With that overview concluded, let’s hop into the next part of my review where I’ll compare each company’s products against each other.Īs I mentioned earlier in this Liquid IV vs Pedialyte review, Pedialyte has a higher sodium and potassium count compared to other sports drinks. However, I must note that you’ll have to go through a third-party distributor if you wish to purchase their items online. I would be remiss in this Liquid IV vs Pedialyte review to not mention that it’s easier to snag your Liquid IV products online through distributors like GNC, Whole Foods, or the company’s website.Īlternatively, I didn’t even need to do research to locate Pedialyte products because I’ve picked them up in drug stores and grocery stores before. Their website even says that their goal is to “ Change the World.” You can’t dream bigger than that.īoth brands boast a bountiful bevy of benefits based on their own original brews, but I can succinctly summarize each entity’s reported rewards as increased nutrient absorption, replenished fluid levels, and higher practical use as electrolyte sources. They want to give back to the world through their charitable donations and the development of more environmentally-conscious business practices. Their founding goal was respectable in and of itself because it can be difficult to ensure that children remain hydrated without resorting to feeding them soft drinks.īut, Liquid IV’s vision extends beyond their drinks. Okay, I’m not saying that Pedialyte was marketing towards kids who suffered from diabetes because they thought that was the most profitable target audience. Speaking of holistic, while researching for this Liquid IV vs Pedialyte review, I found that the former company’s mission was much more holistic than the latter’s. Meanwhile, Liquid IV has always marketed their products towards folks pursuing a healthier, more holistic lifestyle. Pedialyte products were originally marketed towards malnourished and dehydrated children but have received a renewed interest from athletes. With that being said, you don’t have to be an athlete to use either Liquid IV or Pedialyte products, although they are best consumed when in a dehydrated state because they’re designed to rapidly replenish hydration levels. Pedialyte’s goods are equally as robust in function as their catalog features immune system supporters, USDA-certified organic products, freezer pops, and sport-centric drinks. named Elsie, Lacie, and Tillie." That is, "three Liddell sisters": Lorina Charlotte (initials L.C.), Alice (anagram of Lacie), and Edith (pet name Matilda). Nor is this the last we will see of them they reappear in the Dormouse's story of "three little sisters. Edith has become the Eaglet, and Lorina is the Lory (or Lorikeet-a small parrot). After nearly drowning, in a "Pool of Tears," Alice finds herself happily chatting with two strange talking birds as if "she had known them all her life." In fact, the birds are reincarnated Wonderland versions of her sisters. And so began the tale of a little girl named Alice who chased a rabbit down a hole and discovered Wonderland.īut Alice is not the only little girl in that real boating party to appear in Wonderland . During the expedition, the three girls-Lorina, Alice, and Edith Liddell (aged 14, 10, and 8)-begged Dodgson to tell them a story. Lewis Carroll) and the Reverend Robinson Duckworth. The young college dons were the Reverend Charles Dodgson (a.k.a. It began "all in a golden afternoon" with a real boating excursion on July 4, 1862, on the Isis, a branch of the Thames River passing though Oxford, when two young college dons rowed and picnicked with three pretty adolescent girls on their journey upriver from Folly Bridge to Godstow village.Īs Lewis Carroll always acknowledged, the real Alice" was Alice Liddell, the daughter of the Dean of Christ Church College, Oxford. Nevertheless, if we walk carefully in Alice's footsteps, some fascinating new characters will step into the light. Some of these Carroll identified himself others he was at pains to keep secret. All of Lewis Carroll's biographers and literary critics delve to some degree into this kind of historical "Who's Who" of the Alice books. It was fairly obvious that the characters and places in Wonderland had a counterpart in Oxford. 204(2739), 38-41.ĭavid Day in his critical essay Oxford in Wonderland explains that from the beginning, it was apparent that beneath the fairy tale level of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland there was a strong element of autobiography and satire of mid-Victorian satiety. The Mathematical Meaning of Alice in Wonderland. Melanie Baylet ventures that without Dodgson's fierce satire aimed at his colleagues, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland would never have become famous, and Lewis Carroll would not be remembered as the unrivaled master of nonsense fiction.īayley, M. Putting Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in this context, it becomes clear that Dodgson, a stubbornly conservative mathematician, used some of the missing scenes to satirize these radical new ideas. The 19th century was a turbulent time for mathematics, with many new and controversial concepts, like imaginary numbers, becoming widely accepted in the mathematical community. There was no detailed analysis of the added scenes, but from the mass of literary papers, one stood out: in 1984 Helena Pycior of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee had linked the trial of the Knave of Hearts with a Victorian book on algebra. Melanie Bayley, the author of the article, Mathematical Meaning of Alice in Wonderland wanted to know what inspired these later additions. What would Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland be without the Cheshire Cat, the trial, the Duchess's baby or the Mad Hatter's tea party? Look at the original story that the author told Alice Liddell and her two sisters one day during a boat trip near Oxford, though, and you'll find that these famous characters and scenes are missing from the text. MATHEMATICAL MEANING OF ALICE IN WONDERLAND Emphasis is given to river trips and sites in Oxford, England, Llandudno, Wales and Cheshire, England where it is suggested Carroll drew inspiration for his story for friend Alice Liddell. The article Alice's Real Wonderland explores the origins and historical context of the characters and story in the book " Alice in Wonderland," written by Lewis Carroll (Charles Dodgson). Oxford is a city teeming with tourists and traffic, whose shop windows, in the sesquicentennial year of “Wonderland,” overflow with Alice merchandise but if one listens closely, if one ducks through stone arches, opens creaky oaken doors, and descends to quiet riverside paths, one can still find the Oxford of Charles Dodgson and Alice.Ĭharles Lovett in the New York Times, Footsteps, Travel section article: Finding Alice's 'Wonderland' in Oxfordsets out to discover this place, beginning with the college of Christ Church, where Dodgson lived from 1851 until his death in 1898 at age 65 and Alice lived from the time she was 3 until her marriage in 1880. Fantastic as it was, “Wonderland” was rooted in the place Charles Lutwidge Dodgson lived and worked: the city and environs of Oxford with its ancient university, its “dreaming spires” and its surrounding countryside. The Egyptians start with a Pharaoh, a Priest, and two Laborers. The Egyptians summon a giant humanoid bird, (either Ra, Horus, or Ra-Horakhty).Įach culture in Age of Mythology has different starting conditions in a normal game. Though it is not as easy to regulate as the Greeks' method (putting more villagers on the Temple), empowering monuments can increase the total favor coming in a little. Once the monuments are built, this method of gaining favor doesn't require any management. Each of these monuments generates favor at a set rate. The Egyptian player gains Favor by building five different Monuments to the glory of their chosen god. All three major gods have a bonus to their priests - Ra's can empower buildings like the Pharaoh, Isis' place obelisks faster and at lower cost, and Set's can convert wild animals to serve the player. Priests can be trained at the Town Center (once a Temple has been built) or at the Temple. The Priest has the additional ability to summon Obelisks, which are cheap and quickly placed structures that provide a large line of sight. Like the Pharaoh, the Priest has a ranged attack with a large attack bonus against mythological units, but is very weak against regular units. Priest Main article: Priest (Age of Mythology) However, he cannot be healed, and if killed, a normal Pharaoh will appear in its stead. The Son of Osiris has increased armor, many more hit points and a powerful, chain-lighting attack that can hit up to four targets at once. He still has all of the Pharaoh's abilities, but is vastly more powerful in combat. Using the Son of Osiris god power (supplied, unsurprisingly, by Osiris), the Pharaoh can be turned into a falcon-headed demigod. If killed, the Pharaoh regenerates at the player's starting Town Center after one and a half minutes, so he is never out of action for long. However, he is a powerful support unit due to his strong attacks against enemy Myth units and his ability to heal. The Pharaoh is a fairly tough warrior, but is still no match for grouped human units. Pharaoh Main article: Pharaoh (Age of Mythology) Priests are fairly expensive and rather weak against human soldiers. The Egyptian player starts with a Pharaoh and a Priest. Instead the Egyptians have the Pharaoh, a hero that heals and is devastating against myth units, and Priests, which are essentially lesser versions of the Pharaoh. Unlike the Norse and Greeks, the Egyptian hero is not simply a regular unit with an attack bonus against myth units. In contrast to the other cultures, the Egyptians have separate drop-off buildings for food, wood and gold they are all built slowly though they are free. This can be offset by having the Pharaoh (or with Ra, Priests) empower the relevant drop-off building. Laborers, the Egyptian workers, are slower at gathering resources than other cultures' workers.
